Freshman Year at Pacific

My name is Stephanie Jensen and I am a freshman here at the University of the Pacific with a major in Communications. My freshman year has been filled with so many great experiences. At first I was very nervous about college, like many other freshmen I didn’t know what to expect, but once I started getting involved and meeting more people I felt more comfortable and fit right in. This year I have had such a great experience with the Communications department. I chose this major because to me communication is such an important key to being successful in whatever career you choose. So far the courses I have taken have been very interesting and have opened my eyes to the Communications world. The 2 courses I have taken so far include: Public Speaking and Intro to Interpersonal Communication, and I am currently taking Intro to Communication Technology. These three classes are totally different from each other, and have taught me how important communication really is in the real world. Learning about how people communicate with each other, and how the internet is becoming a major influence in society has been the most intriguing. Outside of school I am also very involved. I am on the Rowing team, which has been one of the best experiences of my freshman year. I feel so proud to be a part of this dedicated team. Despite the early morning workouts, there are many benefits including; getting a killer workout and seeing the sunrise while you row. Along with rowing, I am also a new member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and the Honors Fraternity Alpha Lambda Delta. Overall I have kept very busy with school, sports, and organizations here at Pacific, and have enjoyed every moment of my freshman year. Now I look forward to what next year holds for me.
